City creating advisory committee to discuss Inner Harbor desal plant
Corpus Christi City Council members received an update this week on plans to create a Far Field Advisory Committee, a 25-member community group slated to participate in the development and execution of a far field modeling study to examine the potential impact of the “zombie” Inner Harbor desalination project. The Council voted 6-3 in September to discontinue funding for design of the plant, but Mayor Paulette Guajardo and other desal boosters have nonetheless persisted in bringing the proposal back for consideration. Creation of the Advisory Committee comes after City staff previously gave Council conflicting information about the far field modeling process, and the terminated project contractor refused to allow review of the data used to conduct an initial study.
