Proposed drought plan changes causes strife

At a Feb. 18 listening session hosted by the Corpus Christi water department, frustrated residents voiced concerns about the city’s prioritization of large volumes of water use by out-of-town industries while locals bear the costs and face conservation measures.

Many, including Isabel Araiza of For The Greater Good, called for an end to drought waivers for these industries and for greater transparency in water consumption, arguing that the city should focus on the needs of its residents rather than catering to corporate interests.
