“Fab Five” council members vote against CCDP deal

The Corpus Christi City Council voted 5-3 on Tuesday night to reject a staff-recommended $78.6 million contract with Corpus Christi Desal Partners (CCDP) to advance the Inner Harbor seawater desalination plant to 60% design, dealing a fatal blow to a project that has been the focus of years of deliberation at City Hall and opposition from the community. “Fab Five” Councilmembers Sylvia Campos, Gil Hernandez, Kaylynn Paxson, Eric Cantu and Carolyn Vaughn voted against the contract; Councilmembers Scott, Barrera and Roy voted in favor.

This is a developing story, check back with the Coastal Bend Current for the latest.
